Reasons for Fiber Laser Dew Point Failure

 
In summer or after heavy rain, the air humidity is high. When the fiber laser metal cutting machine is turned on in the morning, or when the machine is powered off for a period of time and then turned on again, the system will give an alarm of abnormal humidity. The reason for this phenomenon is that when the laser cutting machine is powered off and does not operate, the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the laser is large, resulting in the condensation of high-humidity air inside the laser. When it is turned on again, the laser will automatically detect the internal environmental humidity. When the detected humidity is greater than 70%, the laser will generate a fault alarm of abnormal humidity.
 
The cause of dew point failure is the same as that of humidity failure, but the basis of detection is different. The humidity alarm is realized by detecting the humidity of the air inside the laser, and the dew point alarm is realized by detecting the dew point temperature of the air inside the laser.
 
Before explaining how to avoid dew point failure, let's first understand what dew point is and how to define dew condensation.
Dew point is short for dew point temperature. It refers to the temperature at which the air is cooled to saturation when the water vapor content in the air is constant and the air pressure is stable. That is to say, in the same environment, the temperature at which water vapor becomes liquid water. Therefore, in different environments, the dew point temperature of fiber lasers is different.
Dew condensation: Put the object in a certain temperature, humidity and pressure environment, and gradually reduce the temperature of the object. When the ambient temperature of the object drops below the dew point temperature of the environment, the moisture in the air gradually reaches a saturation state until dew is deposited on the surface of the object, which is called dew condensation.
 

Solutions to Fiber Laser Dew Point Failure

 
Summer is a rainy season. Frequent rainfall and humid environment can easily lead to condensation inside the fiber laser, thereby reducing the performance of the laser. What should be done to deal with this problem.
1. Equip the fiber laser with a separate air-conditioned room. The operating environment temperature should be controlled at 10℃-40℃, and the relative humidity should be controlled below 70%.
2. The laser cooling water temperature must be set above the dew point temperature of the most severe operating environment.
3. When starting the cnc laser metal cutting machine, first turn the key switch of the laser to the OFF position. Turn on the air switch of the laser, let the air conditioner behind the laser run for about 15 minutes, and then turn on the water cooler. When the temperature of the water cooler reaches the set temperature, turn the laser key switch to the REM position to turn on the laser.
In order to make the fiber laser cutting machine less time to dehumidify in the morning. When the laser cutting equipment is turned off after use the day before, first turn the key switch of the laser to the OFF position. After the temperature of the water cooler returns to room temperature, turn off the air switch of the fiber laser. This is so that after the cnc laser metal cutting machine is powered off, the air conditioner behind the fiber laser continues to dehumidify the interior of the laser. It prevents the temperature inside the laser from forming a temperature difference with the indoor and outdoor temperature after the power is turned off, so that the air inside the laser condenses and precipitates water droplets attached to the inside of the laser.
If the fiber laser cutting machine occasionally reports humidity faults or dew point faults during operation, it may be that the cooling effect of the air conditioner filter behind the laser is blocked, resulting in poor cooling effect. At this time, the filter screen and air inlet and outlet of the air conditioner need to be cleaned.

Other measures to avoid fiber laser failure


Summer is a high-incidence season for fiber laser failures. Statistical results show that most of the laser failures are closely related to the operating environment of the user's operating sequence machine. When the temperature of your working environment is higher than 25℃, please switch on and off the machine in the following order, which can effectively avoid machine failure.
Boot sequence
Turn on the main power of the laser and the key switch first (the laser does not emit light), so that the air conditioner starts to work first for cooling.
When the internal temperature of the laser drops to about 25°C (about half an hour), turn on the water cooler and start the laser light-emitting work.
Shutdown sequence
Please turn off the water cooler first, and then turn off the laser switch.
Note: It is forbidden to have the laser turned off and the water cooler still running.
 
The laser generator is the core component of the fiber laser cutting machine. Once it fails, it will not only affect the progress of the metal cutting project in the workshop, but also generate very high maintenance costs.
