Laser cutting taboo, don't let it ruin your fortune

Laser cutting materials that can be cut:

Different metals

Laser cutters can cut all types of metals from mild steel to stainless steel to nonferrous metals.Aluminum and other reflective metals are more difficult to cut, at this point, fiber laser is a better choice.Today, metal can be cut as thick as 100 millimeters, depending on the power of the laser.

wood

All types of wood, including plywood and MDF, can be laser-cut, but some oily wood carries a risk of ignition and should be used with special care.

Paper and cardboard

Paper is also suitable for laser cutting, and we have seen some elaborate invitations that are probably made by laser cutting.

Plastic products

Acrylic, PMMA and Lucite are all transparent plastics.Laser cutting ensures a nice finish around the edges, just like a knife cut cream.

polyoxymethylene

Polyformaldehyde is a highly used plastic in the engineering field. It can be used in gears, steering and sliding components, medical devices, food packaging, etc.The ability to use lasers for complex cutting could help make polyformaldehyde more widely available in many fields.

glass

Laser cutting glass seems an impossible task due to its fragile and reflective properties. However, laser cutters can cut glass.

What can't you cut?

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Cutting PVC emits acid and toxic fumes, which are harmful to both the machine operator and the laser cutter itself, so PVC cutting is left to the mechanical method.

Polycarbonate fiber

Polycarbonate less than 1 mm can be tried with a laser cutter, but will cause discoloration.

If the material is thick, there is no way to use laser cutting, which is not only inefficient, the material is seriously faded, but may also cause combustion.

ABS, high density polyethylene

Normally, the laser beam is hot enough to vaporize the material, but it does not support materials such as ABS or hdPE.They tend to melt more than vaporize, leaving messy workbenches and poor quality cuts.

Polystyrene and polypropylene foam

Both are easy to catch on fire.

The glass fiber

Fiberglass is a mixture of two materials -- glass and epoxy.
